Step 8: Handle Errors and Retry

Sometimes images may fail to translate due to various reasons. Here's how to handle them.

8.1 Identify Failed Images

Visual Indicators:

  • Status badge: "Failed" (red with X icon)
  • Error message displayed on the card
  • Card border may be highlighted in red

Common Failure Reasons:

  • No text detected in the image
  • Image quality too low for OCR
  • File corruption during upload
  • Temporary server issues
  • Insufficient credits
  • API timeout

8.2 Review Error Details

On each failed card:

  1. Hover over or click the error message
  2. Read the specific error reason
  3. Determine if the issue can be resolved

Error Messages Examples:

  • "No text detected" → Image may not contain readable text
  • "File upload failed" → Network issue, try removing and re-uploading
  • "Insufficient credits" → Purchase more credits to continue
  • "Processing timeout" → Image too complex, try simplifying or splitting

8.3 Retry Failed Images

Manual Retry Process:

  1. For "No text detected":

    • Verify the image actually contains text
    • Check if text is clear and readable
    • Consider using a higher-quality version of the image
  2. For Network/Upload Failures:

    • Click the "Remove" button on the failed card
    • Re-upload the same file
    • The image will be re-added to the batch

Tips for Best Results

Batch Organization Tips

  1. Group Similar Content: Upload manga pages together, product images together, etc.
  2. Consistent Quality: Ensure all images have similar quality levels
  3. Same Language: When possible, batch images that are all in the same source language
  4. File Naming: Use clear, sequential filenames (e.g., page-01.jpg, page-02.jpg) for better organization

Upload Strategy

  1. Start Small: Test with 2-3 images first to verify settings
  2. Check Results: Review initial translations before uploading a full batch
  3. Gradual Addition: Upload images in groups rather than all at once
  4. Monitor Limits: Keep track of the 1000-image maximum

Translation Settings

  1. Choose Appropriate Type: Match translation type to your content for best results
  2. Manga Mode for Comics: Always use "Manga Translation" for comics and graphic novels
  3. Verify Languages: Double-check source and target languages before starting
  4. Auto-Detect for Mixed: Use Auto-Detect when unsure about source language

Download Management

  1. Review Before Download: Check all images in lightbox before bulk downloading
  2. Download Both Versions: Use "Download All (ZIP)" when archiving projects
  3. Organized Storage: Maintain separate folders for different batch projects
  4. Backup Originals: Keep original images in a safe location

Troubleshooting

Common Issues and Solutions

Issue: "Maximum 1000 files limit reached"

Solution:

  • Remove some images from the current batch
  • Process current batch first, then upload more
  • For larger projects, use multiple batches

Issue: "Some images failed to upload"

Possible Causes:

  • File format not supported → Use JPG, PNG, WebP, or GIF
  • File size too large → Compress images to under 10MB
  • Network interruption → Check internet connection and retry

Solution:

  1. Note which files failed (check error messages)
  2. Verify file formats and sizes
  3. Remove failed files and re-upload

Issue: "Translation is very slow"

Possible Causes:

  • Large batch size (close to 1000 images)
  • High server load
  • Complex images with lots of text
  • Network speed

Solution:

  • Use smaller batches (10-15 images)
  • Process during off-peak hours
  • Use "Pause" and "Resume" to manage system resources
  • Check your internet connection speed

Issue: "Translated text looks wrong or garbled"

Possible Causes:

  • Incorrect source language selected
  • Low image quality
  • Complex fonts or handwriting
  • OCR misreading characters

Solution:

  1. Verify source language is correct (try Auto Detect)
  2. Use higher quality images
  3. Try different translation type
  4. For handwritten text, expect lower accuracy

Issue: "Download ZIP file is empty or corrupted"

Possible Causes:

  • Browser download interrupted
  • Ad blocker interfering
  • Insufficient disk space

Solution:

  1. Disable ad blockers temporarily
  2. Try downloading again
  3. Check available disk space
  4. Try a different browser
  5. Download individual images instead

Issue: "Lightbox view mode buttons not working"

Solution:

  • Ensure JavaScript is enabled
  • Try refreshing the page
  • Close and reopen lightbox
  • Clear browser cache

Credit System for Batch Translation

How Credits Work

  • Cost per Image: 1 credit per image
  • Batch Cost: Total images × 1 credit
  • Example: 15 images = 15 credits

Credit Display

Before starting translation:

  • Clear indication of total credits needed
  • Warning if insufficient credits
  • Current credit balance shown

What Happens with Insufficient Credits

  1. Mid-Batch Depletion:

    • Translation pauses automatically
    • Completed images are saved
    • Remaining images stay in "Pending"
    • Can resume after purchasing credits
  2. Preventing Issues:

    • Check credit balance before large batches
    • Purchase extra credits for projects
    • Use smaller test batches first

Comparison: Batch vs Single Image Translator

When to Use Batch Translator

  • Translating 2-1000 images at once
  • Similar content type (all manga, all products, etc.)
